A selection of projects I've been working on recently.

A jungle mural painted in a baby's nursery room. Design inspired by artwork supplied by the client.

A giraffe, monkey and a macaw painted in a nursery room mural.

An elephant, lion cub and a tortoise painted in a nursery room mural.

Painted safari mural in a nursery room.

A macaw painted on a nursery room wall.

A blossom tree painted on a bedroom wall.

I've painted lots of blossom tree murals and the brief for this one was to keep the mural soft, delicate and not cartoonish.

To help to keep the artwork soft and towards realism rather than cartoony or stylised I omitted lots of detail and worked in layers of tonal shapes knocking areas back with glaze washes.

A close up of a painted blossom branch displaying the lack of linear detailing to keep the art soft and dreamy.

Soft blossom mural painted on a bedroom wall.

The top of the blossom tree arches over the wall and petals gently blow in the breeze.

The client had some repair work done to her garden which left an ugly breeze block wall. Foliage was painted on the breeze blocks to disguise the area with the effect of an overgrown cave entrance.

The client had some repair work done to her garden which left an ugly breeze block wall.

I sealed the wall with several coats of black paint before I started the mural.

The mural is built up in layers from dark to light to create a cave entrance effect.

This is phase two of a mural commission for a nursery school, this time the upper floor. The downstairs had a deeper woodland feel, but for this floor I opened it up to give the impression that the climb up the stairs was a climb out of the lower woodland and this scenery was a clearer view of the rolling hills.

I wanted to create a simplified watercolour feel for this mural with subtle blends and tonal layering.

When I painted the walls downstairs there were no plans to turn the upstairs into further classrooms. Subsequently I had to creep the horizon up the stairway as a 'hillside' and begin a 'new' horizon upstairs. A tree painted on the stair wall created a beautiful transition between the two floors.

Here is the furthest end of the landing corridor.

I painted the wildlife in a loose watercolour style. There are fifty animals painted in total upstairs and on the stairway.

A green woodpecker and a bullfinch painted in the trees.

Safari mural painted in a baby's nursery room.

This mural was painted using the client's supplied artwork.

Painted mural and hand lettering.

The concrete sign had flaked and faded over the decades so I was commissioned to repaint it. I copied the original font and layout but added a bevel to the outline to make it jump out a bit more. Unfortunately these photos don't do it justice due to the sign being so high up on the building.

Some of my favourite murals are when the clients' ideas meet my own and together a new vision is created.

I wanted to steer away from the overdone bold red, black and white format and introduce some soft tones in a tasteful style.

The sky is painted with a soft blue and muted ochre and the poppy field contains hints of green and brown.

The painted poppies contain a mix of reds and orange.

In the foreground a kneeling soldier remembers the fallen.

A cartoon Manchester City FC mural painted in a young boy's bedroom. Original design.

A Man City mural painted in a boy's bedroom featuring Phil Foden in a comic book style.

Hand painted, original design.

Traditional hand lettering painted on a pair of scooter panels.

Some nice traditional signwriting on a series of toilet doors in a restaurant/bar. Unfortunately the painter varnished over the lettering without wiping off the chalk lines first!! Ugh!

Ladies toilet door signwriting.

Traditional hand lettering painted on an entrance door to the toilets.

Cardio Zone branding painted on a gym wall.

The man and woman is the gym's logo. I added the lettering to make branding for the cardio area.

Genuine gold leaf is beautiful. It reflects light back so brightly in a way that gold paint can't even get close.

This is the client's own design painted on a gym wall with brushes and airbrushes.

The work isn't masked, it's painted in layers with subsequent layers being painted over overspray.

If this was my own logo I'd have probably added some richness to the colours by introducing some complementing warm tones. There are some greens in the highlights of the dark bevels but in the photos they look a bit grey.

Art and signs painted for a live music venue in Wigan that supported local bands.

A hand painted exterior sign that featured Noel and Liam Gallagher in front of the bar's branding.

Several quotes from famous musicians were painted throughout the venue in a dry brush weathered style.

More musical quotes painted on walls. I'm not entirely convinced that some of these quotes weren't misquoted!

Raw branding painted on the DJ desk to echo the rustic ambiance of the venue.

A close up of the exterior sign.

I've painted lots of sky ceilings but this was my first pink one. It had swirls of peach and other tonal blends but the subtleties didn't photograph very well. The result was beautiful in person.

This ceiling was painted using a combination of brushes, rags and airbrushes.

A princess castle mural painted in a nursery room, inspired by artwork supplied by the client.

A vintage grand prix mural painted in a double garage in Bury, Lancs.

One of the nicest garages I've painted a mural in, but there's been a few!

A pathway was painted to lead your eye down the corridor and into the mural.
